With the exception of the small Galaxy Tab I have, this has been the case with every Android device I have used. Android is the new Windows 9x in that regard.

That's one of my biggest irritations too.

I am not about to update a bunch of in-house, non-public-facing print , database, and file servers to 6. No need.

That's me and some of the small RHEL 5 servers I have running. All updates have been discontinued and the repos wiped.

This one is going to take a while because of the new file system. A acquaintance just upgraded 150 of them without incident (Works for a school system) so it seemed safe to pull the trigger.

Just forgot how long it was going to take.
