@phoneboy I'm surprised it has much of an audience left. Laporte, himself, I can't listen to. I just find him a pompous ass. Tom Merritt was the only one I really "tuned in" for. Once he was gone, that was it for me.
I wonder if I still have the J++ source to that applet I wrote that submitted search queries to all of the top search engines then opened browser windows for each with results.
It'd be funny to see it shout out to infoseek, lycos, etc..
@matigo I'm sure a focus group would have resulted in,"We showed subject 51 an animated Calvin dancing gif and blinking text. He started shaking uncontrollably and nearly swallowed his tongue. We might want rethink this"
Did the person(s) responsible for <blink> ever apologize or show anything resembling remorse?
True confession time:
I made some websites in Microsoft FrontPage.
I'm relieved to have gotten that off my chest
@c I was probably among the first people to fire up Microsoft's J++.
Subsequently, I became one of the first to close it and say, "No".

@c 1997 was the best year of Internet for me. Had a slit trench dug between my apartment and the office. Ethernet between my system and the ISP's main router. 1MBs!
If I ever got that speed today, I'd be on the phone screaming at Charter Communications :D.
