@kdfrawg Not so much the technology. It's what it reveals. We were used to a handful of idiots in our communities. I don't think we are wired to handle millions of them.

@kdfrawg Let me know when it is out, I'm interested.

@kdfrawg Except in the case of Unix editors.

@kdfrawg Remember when gay bashing was socially acceptable? Our parents remember when lynching African Americans was socially acceptable.

We move do move forward.

// @skematica

@kdfrawg I think it's always been this way. We just get millions of examples a day from social media.

Logs show nothing out of sorts happening with the erratic IO. So the answer to this isn't going to come easily.

There's either something odd going on under the hood in Sierra or I have a hardware issue.

Inexplicable disk IO performance variances while compressing VM hard drives. Sometimes writes drop to no more than 4 per second. Everything else is practically at idle.

Need to see if that happens on the mini when I get home

@skematica I honestly think the Internet is responsible for a lot of this. Tech evolves a lot faster than we do. Entirely possible we aren't ready for the world to be this small yet.

// @kdfrawg

@kdfrawg Just watching a government and media finally get a handle on how to use the Internet like they did "The Papers".

// @skematica

@skematica It's hard not to be cynical about it, but, the amount of progress away from narrow-mindedness in my lifetime has been startling.

Society is like a big ship. Takes both a while to change course and if you force the issue, you risk capsizing.

Still, we've come quite a long ways.
