Now abusing my old DV 6700 laptop

model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5450 @ 1.66GHz

2GB of RAM

Shipped with Vista Business.

Let's watch Ubuntu 64bit kill it.

@skematica Back when this thing was bleeding edge, Linux went nuts on it. Couldn't cope with half of it's innards. Now that Linux has more than caught up to it, they appear to get along nicely.

@kdfrawg It's just a symptom of my particular illness. I loathe throwing away things that still function reasonably well. It's a AMD Phoenom III for crying out loud.

It can still serve a purpose as an ebook editor and Android development platform though. It's 17" and very bright/high contrast. Easy on the aging eyes.

This laptop is sentient. It knows I have banished Windows from it. Refuses to cleanly shut down. First time it has done that.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I am putting the Ubuntu hard drive back into this laptop.

I can't believe after all these years, I have run across PATH length limitations. I'm not going to install Windows 10 on this old thing to get around it. Buying a new laptop for the Visual Studio 2015 stuff anyway.

This thing stays Linux from here on out.

Trying to build up enough enthusiasm to go outside and wash the car. It's not going well. I haven't managed build up enough to put on pants yet and it's 10:35.

Sidekick is watching the Westworld remake. I can't bring myself to do it without feeling that I am soiling the memory of Yul Brynner.

Enjoying a Makers on the rocks and some meditation music.

HP Laptop back on Windows 7. Ubuntu experiment will be picked up in a few months.

Now, to fetch a screwdriver and slap the Windows 7 hard drive back in. I'll keep the Ubuntu install on the drive. Want to see what a massive apt-get upgrade does to it.
