Are you familiar with RIMENet? I ran a few channels on that.

I ran a small node off a town hub. Acted as a relay to get across the river to Ohio without long distance charges.

It was comically primitive compared to what e have today but I still think the communication was a Hell of a lot more meaningful.

..and this is how I have operated since commercial software took off :D

After the recent betrayal in congress in allowing ISPs to rape us for data and Verizon's announcement that they'll be putting sniffers on Android phones for ad purposes…

I'll likely be replacing all my apps with my own.

A healthy attitude, actually :)

Whenever I wax nostalgic when someone asks me about FIDONet, I have to remember that it is little different than my grandparents describing how they sent nice, handwritten letters to one another.

Or their parents wooing each other with cave paintings.

Heh. Yes. I was on the road a lot back then. Mostly back and forth from Tennessee and Florida or Tennessee and Louisiana. A lot of night driving. Kept up with friends by via the flipphone and Twitter since I could message without taking eyes off the road. :)

Pffft. I'm going on a brain strike tomorrow.

Okay. One more chilled bourbon. Then, a nice hot shower. Then, avoiding code at all costs until Sunday.

Sometimes, being a friend means doing crap like that. Well, I wasn't doing anything - Just telling her how to go about doing what she wanted to do.
