Linux workstation would reboot whenever a secretary would print something to her laser printer.

They changed out cables. Bought another printer. I eventually sent them another workstation. Still happened. Defied logic.

I set the printer up remotely to be wireless. Told them to disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Ran lsusb from the terminal session to make sure that instruction was followed. Sent a print job. Her computer shut off.

I asked her why she didn’t tell me that every damned thing on her desk shut off instead of just the computer. “I assumed you knew”. Told her to unplug the laser printer from the battery backup circuit and into the non-protected circuit, put the new workstation I sent them in a box to send back and to relay, in future, every single thing that happens when there is a problem.

The ones they place on computers tend to be blindingly bright. The one on my enterprise Linux 7 server was so bright, it was like a nightlight. My whole home office was a dim blue glow when the lights were turned off. It is disconnected now.

Blue LEDs are the reason my next PC will be a custom build. Hate the things and every decent preassembled system I see is loaded with them.

In terms of gaming, some of us never really left it. I'll never give up Macs when it comes to admining Linux servers and the like, though. Still a fan of their phone, tablet and watch integration as well.

It's just that the things they do badly…they do badly in an exceptional way.

This was such a simple operation. Unhide purchases. Each release of the software, they make it harder and harder to get to. The UI changes so much that online hints and guides are all incorrect so you are forced to just point and click aimlessly until the option is found.

Atrocious design.

Only broke down and bought it a few months ago. Of course, they now have the Series 4 so…late to the party as usual.

It never ceases to amaze me how Apple, who pride themselves on UIs, have made iTunes such a mess.

Took forever to figure out how to unhide some past purchases so they’d show up in my libraries again.

This is where you become wary because there has to be a catch.

On the downhill stretch of the week. Hump day survived.

That’s what I would probably be doing if I were at home. Our back porch is a mess from traipsing in the garden.
