@kdfrawg I'm reminded of a story Stevie Ray Vaughn told about his collapse. Throwing up blood while on the road and saying, "Oh man, I'm scared. I need a drink". Being told, "The last thing you need is a drink". Saying, "I know. But I need a drink". He went into rehab shortly afterwards.

@kdfrawg I veered that way with drinking and some drug use. It took a hard look at my family to change course.

The art is knowing the difference between "liking a drink" and "needing a drink". If I am in "a mood" and feel the latter, I do not drink. Period.

The line between "desire" and "compulsion" is fine and deadly.
