Fighting an irrational urge to dive into Node.js.
It has no bearing on the code I am writing and thus would take time better spent on other things.
Life was easier when there was only C, C++ , and PASCAL and everything else was a academic wank toy or, like COBAL, FORTRAN and PL/1, headed for the tar pits thus beneath notice.
I swear that my cat is psychic.
Made the mistake of opening Outlook. Got caught up in a bit of customer correspondence. Then some office correspondence. Then grabbed my appointment minder and notepad. Got irritated.
Suddenly a paw on my leg and a chirp.
Pet cat
She jumps in the chair. I pet her a bit more.
Once I have forgotten about the irritation, she hops off and moves to her normal position - Under my desk.
Sidekick does similar things but utilizes English instead of chirps :)
@streakmachine Yeah. This is "Ignore the Internet" day. I'm just glad it is a Saturday. I routinely have customers call me and ask, "I just read 'X'. Is this true?!"

Status: Rediscovering my hatred for Wordpress.
Note: I am a C, C++ guy. Never liked the web stuff in general but there is something about Wordpress that just strikes me as wrong.
Note2: I am too good to Sidekick. She's the only person I would do this for.

@matigo I have a straight-C and ncurses IRC client that I abandoned. I need to convert that over to something sane like QT someday.
Afterward, find a decent IRC netowrk…or start my own server again. :D

Even as comparatively simple as moving from ext2 to ext3 was, it's a nasty piece of business to undertake.
@matigo Reads like my Linux list from a few years back. Time and work-load have killed my efforts at it now but I intend to change that.
I used to pass that instinct off as "tin-foil-hat" but it seems more than prudent at this stage.

@nitinkhanna They don't have a choice but to be. The only reason Apple got away with dictating their terms was their popularity. Now smart phones are as sexy and mysterious as toaster ovens, Apple doesn't quite have the leverage anymore. All the power is going right back to the carriers.

@nitinkhanna I use an iPhone already but that isn't going to stop them in the long run. When Apple's profits start falling, and they will, they will start selling that data like anyone else.
