Doing an entire disto really brought dependency hell home for me. I'd listen to someone at the LUG go on about how Microsoft was inferior because of DLL hell and think, "Perform a major digit upgrade of Python on anything RedHat based and get back with me. Oh, you'll have to use rpm itself and the --nodeps --force switches. Good luck ever using a system administration or configuration tool again."
