@indigo The scariest electrical job I have ever seen was in the home of a childhood friend. His house was built in the mid 1800s so being wired for electricity was an after the fact.
I was helping his he and his father remodel the living room. While tearing out a wall, we noticed the plaster was black in spots. It was burnt.
Because the entire house was wired by running cloth insulated lamp cord and plastering over it.
How that house managed to not burn down is a mystery.
