@indigo I guess in the scope of human history, peace has been a anomaly.
I have relatives in Ireland and some of the stories they tell of the 70s are horrible.

@larand Until we recognize that both sides brought this about, it won't get better. We all had parts in this play.
There is no moral high ground to be had here.

@indigo The races and classes have been played with incessantly for years. Dividing us into these little demographics. Playing us against one another.
It's coming home to roost.
The real racists are emboldened enough to come out of the woodwork. They can't be shamed or shunned back into it because the charge against them (racist) has been tossed about to the point it is no more than a insult.
People on both ends of the political spectrum rush in and deny that they had anything to do with it but it's their fault. They didn't stand up and say, "NO", to this stuff. I know I didn't because I never thought it could truly happen. Thought people would eventually wake up. I was wrong.
Now, we have a loose cannon in the office and his opposition are pouring kerosine on the very fire that put him there.
Madness.

@kdfrawg You can only hope people recognize where we are and how we got here.

@kdfrawg I couldn't care less about symbols. I'm more concerned that we have institutions tasked with producing our future encouraging it's charges to clump into their own little pigeon holes.
Im concerned that hurling the word racist indiscriminately for shock value has dulled it's meaning and effect.
@indigo What's happening here is identity politics run amok. One of my friends from high school is aghast. This is the same stuff her father had to go through. Her son and daughter now get to go through college being encouraged to go off in their little groups.
This is not healthy at all.

@kdfrawg I would never have dreamed that "Separate but equal" would be dragged out from under its rock. I thought that stuff was burned and buried long ago.
Thinking back to a comment I made about not wanting to wake up in 1950…
Good morning, America. Segregation is IN [thecollegefix.com]
I give up. Racism is being normalized under people's very noses. But, it's "a safe space" so everything is just peachy.
